Last updated: August 23, 2026
Using Lumen
Lumen is a study assistant for organizing classes, writing notes, creating study materials, and tracking study activity. By creating or using an account, you agree to these terms.
You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your login credentials, and everything done through your account. The service is intended for lawful educational use.
Your content
You keep ownership of the notes, images, handwriting, and other content you submit. You give Lumen permission to store and process that content only as needed to provide features such as transcription, summaries, flashcards, practice tests, and file access. Additionally, you give Alphabet, Inc. permission to process that content on their servers, and you give MongoDB, Inc. permission to store that content on their servers. Select content may be used by Alphabet, Inc. and Google DeepMind to improve their AI models. By using $Lumen, you consent to this.
Do not upload content you do not have permission to use, or content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, or intended to compromise the service.
AI and availability
AI-generated transcriptions, explanations, flashcards, quizzes, classifications, and study advice can be inaccurate. Review important information and do not treat the service as a substitute for a teacher, school policy, or professional advice.
We may change, pause, or discontinue features, including integrations with Gemini, MongoDB, or file storage providers. We provide the service as available and do not promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Accounts and changes
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or threaten the service or other users. We may update these terms as the product changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
